Health Savings Account

Our History
Security National Bank of Omaha opened its doors for business in September 1964. Today, we have locations throughout the Omaha metropolitan area with an extensive ATM network. Over the years we’ve added services to further help our clients reach their goals such as; an independent investment company, a mortgage division, a private banking division, an Internet banking center and in 2004 a new trust division. We take pride on being Omaha’s community bank and the relationships we have established throughout the years. Security National Bank truly is Serving The Community We Call Home.

What is a Health Savings Account (HSA)?
A HSA offers a way to set aside funds to pay for today and tomorrow’s medical expenses. HSA’s are the latest product in affordable healthcare. They combine a qualified high deductible plan with a Health Savings Account. The qualified high deductible plan covers catastrophic illness and injury, while the Health Savings Account covers routine expenses until the deductible is met.

In addition, HSA's provide you with tax savings. Annual contributions reduce your taxable income and your qualified medical expenses are never taxed. The money you set aside in your HSA grows tax-deferred until age 65, when funds can be withdrawn for any non-medical purpose (ordinary tax applies), or tax-free when used for medical care. For tax related questions, please refer to government regulations at www.irs.gov.

Earn Interest

Security National Bank offers a tiered, money market interest rate structure for HSA accounts.

How to apply
Just follow a few simple steps and you’re on your way to more affordable healthcare.

  1. 1) Obtain a qualified high deductible plan
With a qualified high deductible plan in-force, employees are eligible to establish a Health Savings Account. If your employer is looking for affordable healthcare coverage, a HSA can be coupled with any qualified high deductible plan.

  2. 2) Complete all Security National Bank forms
Your insurance agent or broker can provide your employer with the forms needed to apply for a Health Savings Account with Security National Bank. You must complete the Health Savings Account Application and Eligibility Form and the Designation of Beneficiary Form. Your employer may elect to complete the Employer Contribution Form if making contributions to your account for you or if they are sending contributions through payroll deduction.

  3. 3) Submit all Security National Bank forms to your insurance agent
Submit all completed applications, eligibility forms and checks to your insurance agent, who will forward this information directly to the bank. Your check, made payable to Security National Bank, should cover your initial deposit and one-time account set-up fee. If you prefer to use paper checks instead of a personalized debit card provided with your account, then your personal check should also include the cost of checks.
